On Dec.16, 2016 , Betty, age 89 years , formerly of Barrington currently of Cherry Hill.
Dr. Zipf was the beloved daughter of the late Ernst A. and Minnie M. Zipf. Pre-deceased by her sisters Helena C. Zipf, Eugenia S. Zipf and M. Marie Zipf and brother, Stephen A. Zipf, Sr. She is survived by three nephews, Stephen A. Zipf, Jr., Mark J. Zipf and Lawrence R. Zipf and their spouses, three grand nieces, five grand nephews, and two great grandnieces and two great grandnephews
Dr. Zipf received her BS from Mary Washington College, her Masters degree at the University of Pennsylvania and her PhD in Biology from University of Virginia. The majority of her career was as Chief Editor of BIOSIS, the international English language life sciences abstracting journal and database.
In addition, Dr. Zipf was the President of Graduate Women of Science and a member of numerous professional scientific societies
Dr. Zipf was an accomplished musician and a gifted soprano, an avid gardener and an animal lover, often rescuing stray dogs.
Dr. Zipf was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Runnemede, NJ. Betty had a powerful faith and shared her love of the Lord Jesus with everyone. Her calling was to be a lifelong witness of her Lord Jesus and to teach His scripture to all whom she met. Betty’s love for her family was paramount as were her many kindnesses and generosity to people in need
Graveside services will be held at 11am on Wednesday Dec. 21st, 2016 at the Harleigh Cemetery, 1640 Haddon Ave., Camden, NJ 08103. Funeral arrangements by the DuBois Funeral Home, 700 S.
